Membership in ACGS is open to anyone with an interest in genealogy. Augusta County roots are not required. Many of our members have interests and expertise that extend to other Virginia counties, across the United States and worldwide.

Membership Benefits

  • Society programs including interesting guest speakers, field trips, Roundtable discussions, as well as special programs and events.

  • ACGS quarterly newsletter, The Augusta Archivist.

  • ACGS Surname Database (Coming soon to the website!).

  • Volunteer opportunities. Many of our members assist in staffing our ACGS Library located in the Augusta County Library. The Surname Archive Committee works in the ACGS Library and is always looking for volunteer help. Other members volunteer with the ACGS Research Team and perform genealogy research at the Augusta County Courthouse in Staunton.
